Born in the UK to Spanish parents, Ramos is multilingual—fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Italian, with working knowledge of classical Arabic and Turkish. A King’s College London graduate, she mentors aspiring journalists through King’s and Women in Journalism UK.
Maria has worked as a TV news presenter and reporter for a number of major international channels. Maria now presents flagship programmes for TRT World in Istanbul after key on-screen roles at the BBC, Bloomberg and CNBC in London and the Middle East.
During her seven years in the region, Maria worked as a newsreader in Bahrain and also reported from Syria, Jordan, Turkey and the UAE. In London, she hosted Bloomberg TV’s breakfast world news and covered the 2008 financial crisis from London and Spain.
Beyond the newsroom, Ramos is a highly sought-after Master of Ceremonies and Moderator, regularly leading high-level international and government events. Her focus areas include humanitarian, environmental, and global affairs, with clients such as the European Parliament and the United Nations, in particular for UN World Tourism Day in Riyadh.
An ardent advocate for sustainability, she has worked as Media Advisor to the CEO of Formula E, the world’s premier electric car racing series. She was instrumental in building global media and institutional relationships, including with the UN and Greenpeace.
