Growing up in Tower Hamlets, East London, and living very close to Canary Wharf, Emmanuel Asuquo grew up dreaming of working in one of the cities banks. This dream came true at age 22 when he became a financial advisor at Barclays Bank. He would go on to work for Royal Bank of Scotland, HSBC, and NatWest.

Over the years, Emmanuel has seen the financial markets rise and fall and has helped numerous clients reach their financial goals and ultimately achieve financial freedom. He believes in financial planning is known by his clients for always quoting “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail”. Emmanuel also believes in building long-term relationships and he still has clients from when he first came into the industry over a decade ago. In a world that is forever changing, it is important financial plans are regularly reviewed to ensure clients’ goals are achieved.
After conducting financial education sessions within churches and youth groups, Emmanuel decided to set up Noir Excel, which also offered him his start in presenting. Noir Excel focussed its services on helping individuals from low social-economic backgrounds and providing them with the knowledge to break the debt and poverty cycles they face. In these seminars, Emmanuel teaches attendees the principles of financial planning and covers topics including budgeting, improving your credit score, debt management, savings, emergency funds, investing, pensions, life insurance, mortgages and property.

He then went on to create The Eman Effect, which is a financial platform that provides talks and seminars to schools, colleges, universities, charities and corporate organisations. He also provides consultation services to individuals and small businesses. He has given financial education talks all over the UK and has spoken to over 30,000 people. Emmanuel has been featured in The Times, The Telegraph and The Daily Mail, and has been invited to speak as an expert guest on BBC Radio several times. He also uses The Eman Effect platform to share his story to motivate people to realise that, although they may not be where they want to be in life, with self-belief, hard work and consistency they can achieve their dreams.
Emmanuel is a fully qualified financial advisor through the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), and also holds a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance from the University of Greenwich.
In 2024, Emmanuel published his book Get Your Money Right, a book that aims to prove that learning about money doesn’t have to be boring. It explains the basics of finance including the UK credit systems and pensions. The book found its way onto Amazon’s top 100 books in their “Online Trading & Investment” list.
