Anthea Turner’s career started at BBC Radio Stoke as a runner, before moving to Sky and Music Box, presenting live music programmes until 1989. Her live television debut was on BBC’s But First This (1987), which led to her fronting the BBC’s morning show UP2U (1988-89).

Throughout her career, she would present a number of popular shows, including Top of the Pops (1988-91), Blue Peter (1992-1994), GMTV (1994-1996), the National Lottery draw (1994-1996), Wish You Were Here…? (1998-99), and Your Kids Are in Charge (2000).

During her two years at Blue Peter she launched the most successful ‘homemade make’ in the history of the show, with an excess of 100,000 viewers writing in for details of how to make ‘Tracy Island’ from Thunderbirds.

After a short break from presenting, Anthea made a television comeback on Anthea Turner: Perfect Housewife, a show where she taught disorganised housewives and househusbands how to run their house properly.

After a short break from presenting, Anthea made a television comeback on Anthea Turner: Perfect Housewife, a show where she taught disorganised housewives and househusbands how to run their house properly by spreading her passion for cleaning, saving money, and helping make their lives easier.

She also published several books to accompany the series:

– How to Be the Perfect Housewife: Lessons in the Art of Modern Household Management (2007)

– How to Be the Perfect Housewife: Entertain in Style (2008)

– The Perfect Christmas (2008)

Anthea has, over the years, presented top shows on a variety of subjects close to her heart from creating the perfect home, to food, pets, travel and fitness.

She has featured on lots of the UK’s best-loved entertainment shows, such as Blankety Blank (1989), Loose Women (1999-2016), Celebrity Big Brother (2001), Never Mind the Buzzcocks (2006), Hell’s Kitchen (2009), The Jump (2013), Celebrity Antiques Road Trip (2017), and Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins (2020). In 2013 she appeared on the eighth series of Dancing on Ice, finishing in ninth place.

Anthea has also successfully presented a selection of videos on fitness. Her ‘Y Plan Fitness’, video sold in excess of one million units, leading to further successful releases including ‘Body Basics’ and ‘Tone, Lift & Condition’.
