Whilst she initially trained as a solicitor, she began her career as a journalist as a newsreader for Marcher Coast FM in North Wales, before joining BBC Wales as a reporter in 1996. After moving to Cardiff, she went on to present Good Evening Wales for radio and BBC Wales Today on television.
Sian also fronted the Return to Boscastle special on UKTV and presented weather documentaries for CNN, Channel 4, ITV and Radio 4. She has also hosted her own Sunday lunchtime show on Radio Wales and presented coverage for the 2015 elections.
She has taken part in many Welsh language programmes including Dudley: Pryd o Sêr, Sioe Tudur Owen, Heno, and Hwb. She was part of the team of presenters covering the National Eisteddford of Wales 2011, and has been a judge for the Learner of the Year Competition.
She currently works for BBC News as their Midlands correspondent, contributing to Crimewatch and BBC Breakfast.
Sian starred in The Vagina Monologues at The Wales Millennium Centre alongside Joanna Page and the late Margaret John in 2009.
As a journalist, Sian has written for The Daily Telegraph, The Times, News of the World, The Western Mail and The Daily Post as a weekly columnist. She also regularly contributes to the travel column in the Mail on Sunday.
Sian has won the “Best Weather Presenter” at the TRIC award twice and been nominated on four other occasions.
She is also a popular voiceover talent and can often be heard voicing TV promos, commercials, documentaries and other corporate material
