Jonathan Wheatley is an experienced presenter, announcer, and voiceover artist with an international career spanning television, radio, and digital media. He began in the United States with PBS before working in UK broadcasting for the BBC, ITV, and Sky, including roles as a Radio 4 announcer and BBC World Service news presenter. He later became Monocle 24’s first live world news presenter.
Jonathan started his broadcasting career at Seattle’s PBS station KCTS, where he introduced programmes and narrated the PBS national series Return of the Maya. He returned to the UK and developed his writing skills at Worldwide Television News (now known as APTN), where he wrote news scripts to accompany visual footage for completed reports distributed worldwide to WTN bases. He also narrated WTN’s television documentaries, including a five-hour, five-part series on Nigeria, and was a regular presenter on Earthfile.

He then worked as a live news presenter and announcer for three local ITV regions, the BBC World Service, and BBC Radio 4. At Meridian and HTV Wales (where he also announced in basic Welsh as well as English), he voiced local weather updates and announced the ten-minute live Shipping Forecast on Radio 4. At HTV West, he also presented on-screen local bulletins, including four during GMTV, occasional lunchtime news, and the very popular 10:30pm news. He also presented occasional early morning news on Carlton’s London Today, as well as overnight news on Sky TV.

During Jonathan’s eight years at The BBC Worldservice he would introduce live programmes and would also put his news-reading colleagues on air for the news summaries at the bottom of the hour. Jonathan volunteered to help the ‘Save The Children’ Charity when they had a fundraising live concert at The Royal Albert Hall. He came on stage to host this exciting live ‘Flaminco’ Night event. Jonathan has worked for Bravo TV, Challenge TV, Flextech TV, HSBC, Dave TV, Nat West, and many others in commercials, promos, films, as a voiceover, presenter, actor and host. He also worked as a British dialect coach for American actors.

Alongside his broadcasting career, he has worked extensively as a voiceover artist for a wide range of clients. These include Google (as the guide voice for its Text-to-Speech app), Channel 4’s drama Southcliffe (as a newsreader), Dave TV’s Modern Life is Goodish (as a presenter), Challenge TV’s Press the Red Button (as an actor), The Economist Audio Edition (as a newsreader), and major brands such as Morgan Stanley, NatWest, HSBC, Intel Financial Services, GE Capital, and Rosetta Stone. Jonathan passed with distinction Grade VIII (advanced) at The Royal College of Music and is also a composer. He lives in Bournemouth, but has connections to London and often travels to the City for work, and has a basic understanding of French and Welsh.
