Alex Depledge has also become an active voice within the UK tech sector. Named Entrepreneur of the Year by TechCity Insider, Alex has sat on a number of tech-based boards. Between 2015-2017, she chaired the Coalition for a Digital Economy (Coadec), a non-profit campaigning for support for digital startups; between 2015-2016 she sat on the Sharing Economy UK board, working with the government lobbying for changes to protect consumers and businesses; and with London LEAP from 2017-2021, working with the London Mayor to boost jobs and support economic growth in the capital. Since the start of 2023, she has also worked alongside Persimmon Homes, and Startup Coalition as Non-Executive board members.

She has been part of the Labour Party’s review of business start-up funding, and has worked with  the Government’s taskforce on women-led high-growth enterprises.

With a direct, refreshingly ‘non-techy’ approach, Alex also looks at broader areas within digital and technology. She compares how the UK and elsewhere measures up against the dominance of Silicon Valley.

Her achievements have seen her awarded with many accolades, including The Barclay’s Entrepreneur Award for Start Up of the Year in 2020, the Emergency Technology Scale-Up at the 2022 Enterprise Awards, and an MBE in 2016 for services to the sharing economy. She was named in Computer Weekly’s 50 Most Influential Women in UK Tech 2017, Debrett’s 500 Most Influential People List of 2016 and 2017, Management Today’s 35 Under 35 List 2015, and was named as one of the UK’s 30 Female Founders to Watch by The Financial Times.
