From breaking onto the television scene in Gogglebox (2013-) to winning I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here (2002-), Scarlett Moffatt has fast become a popular face on British screens. Known for her witty one-liners and down-to-earth personality, Scarlett quickly became one of the audience’s favourite characters. Her fabulous sense of humour, relaxed nature, and determination to tackle anything in her path, saw her crowned Queen of the Jungle in 2016, in the ”I’m a Celeb” final.
As a speaker, Scarlett is passionate about mental health awareness and body positivity. She is highly sought-after as an after-dinner speaker and event host; perfect for engaging with your guests in a light-hearted but professional manner, and ensuring your occasion is a roaring success.
After winning the popular reality show, Scarlett Moffatt landed her first presenting gig, presenting live, backstage at the National Television Awards (1995-) with Dermot O’Leary. Her natural on-screen persona soon saw her fronting, and co-hosting, well-loved shows like Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway (2002-) for ITV, MTV’s Beauty School Cop Outs (2013), Channel 4’s dating programme Streetmate (1998-), ITV2’s Extra Camp (2002-), as well as being a regular team captain on Celebability (2017-) for ITV2.
In 2019, Scarlett joined forces with her family once again for the successful Channel 4 documentary, The British Tribe Next Door (2019), where they moved to live with a tribe in Namibia for a month. It was a huge hit and won a 2020 RTS Award for best Formatted Popular Factual Programme. The popular presenter went on to host over 30 episodes of the food/dating show Love Bites (2020-) on ITV2, before landing a role as the host of Crufts Extra, a YouTube series following the behind-the-scenes action at Crufts (1950-2008; 2010-).
Scarlett moved into documentaries in 2022, hosting the prime-time Channel 4 investigative show Britain’s Tourette’s Mystery: Scarlett Moffatt Investigates (2022), which aims to tackle the rise of Tourette’s in young people during the COVID-19 Pandemic. She is also putting her 13 failed driving tests behind her to front Scarlett’s Driving School (2022) for BBC1.
She has also been a popular pannel guest on shows such as Celebrity Juice and Would I Lie to You, and participated in Celebrity Mastermind and The Great Celebrity Bake Off for SU2C.
Not content with just being a popular face on television, she is also a much-loved voice on radio. In 2020, she launched her own BBC1 podcast Scarlett Moffatt Wants to Believe (2020-), focussing on her own love of conspiracy theories. The podcast is so popular, it has been running for four series. She hopes to do more podcasts in the future focussing on female empowerment and fat-shaming. In 2015, Scarlett joined the team on Capital North East for their show Capital Breakfast (2011-), co-hosting with presenter Roger Howard for a year. In 2018, Scarlett joined Heart Radio for a one-off evening show as part of their Feel Good Easter Weekend (2018-).
In 2018, Scarlett released a fitness DVD after shredding 3-stone. However, she recently spoke out about the unrealistic ideals of the fitness regime that helped her to lose weight. As part of the weight loss programme, Scarlett attended a gruelling boot camp and was on a strict diet plan which allowed her to eat only 300-700 calories a day, which was never mentioned on the DVD. When talking about the BootCamp and diet on the BoobShare podcast, Scarlett stated that the DVD is her ”biggest regret” but how during the early days of her career she felt that the DVD was a good decision to make her feel more accepted into the (celebrity) industry she now found herself in.
On reflection, Scarlett apologised for doing the before-and-after pictures because she realise how unhealthy it was for her, and how detrimental the DVD may have been to those who brought it.
Scarlett is now a big promotor of body positivity and has now come to love her body. She regularly talks about body confidence and has a huge supportive Instagram following.
In 2022, Scarlett opened up about how she struggled with her mental health and loneliness during the Covid-Pandemic, revealing that she turned to Samaritans for help and is now a Samaritan’s ambassador for the suicide prevention charity and hopes that by sharing her story, she can raise awareness and help others overcome their own mental health struggles, loneliness and depression.
Of her mental health struggles Scarlett said;
“Sometimes it can feel like there is a negative stigma around admitting that you’re lonely, but it’s something that most people will have experienced at one point in their life. There is no shame in feeling alone, and it’s OK to talk about it. In the world of social media, it’s not always clear to see when people are feeling sad or lonely.”
Scarlett has collaborated with a number of brands including Amazon Prime Video, ASDA, Go Ahead, the National Lottery, Peacocks, and Wowcher.
Scarlett’s warm nature and comical style make her a popular choice for hosting awards, fireside chats or private events. She is a passionate after-dinner speaker and is an inspiration when it comes to reaching your personal and professional goals.
