BACKGROUND
With an undergraduate degree in media arts, a professional diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and a postgraduate in current affairs and broadcast journalism, it’s clear to see that Ru A. Kermani has a passion for what she does.
She has experience working for J&M Entertainment, the Discovery Channel, and Bacardi, but her journalistic career took off in 2009, when she started broadcasting for ITN and Channel 4. Since then, she has presented, written, produced, and edited news and current affairs stories for Al Jazeera, ITN/ITV, CNN, Euronews, and France 24.
She has been a reporter and producer for BBC News since 2022, covering a range of stories across TV, radio, and digital. She also worked for the BBC in 2019, presenting hourly news bulletins for smart speakers, such as Alexa and Siri.
Over the years, she has developed expertise in editing, presenting, reporting, writing, producing, publishing, and scriptwriting. She spent five years contributing work to The Pocket Arts Guide, a publication based in Hong Kong and Singapore for an international readership.

CORPORATE HOST
In addition to her broadcasting duties, Ru is a popular event host, panel moderator, and interviewer.
In 2023, she moderated and hosted GLOC 2023, the world’s first global conference on the role of space in combating climate change. Based in Oslo, she facilitated a panel discussion with prominent experts and leaders, including the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide; Director General of the European Space Agency Joseph Aschbacher; NASA Senior Advisor Susie Perez Quinn; Under Secretary of Commerce For Oceans and Atmosphere Dr Richard W Spinrad; and the Vice President of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency Terada Koji.
Together, the panel focussed on topics such as climate change, the impact on the environment, applications and services driven b climate change, impacts of climate change on policy and law, commercial opportunities created by climate change, present and future collaborations on space missions related to climate change, and social, communication, economic, and cultural dimensions of environmental change.
In early 2025, Ru was the host and master of ceremonies for the inaugural Eid al-Fitr Dinner in aid of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal, celebrating the cultural and economic ties between the UK and the Muslim business world. Held at the prestigious Guildhall, guests included the Rt. Hon. Lord Mayor of the City of London, the Rt. Hon. Sir Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, speaker Sheikha Alanoud bint Hamad Al-Thani, as well as senior representatives from embassies, wealth funds, and commercial institutions.
With over 13 years of experience in newsrooms from London to Doha, Ru’s expertise spans a diverse range of international broadcasters across television, radio, and digital platforms. She is dedicated to utilising her journalism to address pressing issues, engage her audience, and foster meaningful and impactful conversations.

Our recent Eid al-Fitr event held on Wednesday 9th April at Guildhall was a celebration of a wonderful and united community, made up with some inspirational guests including the Mayor of London The Rt Hon Sir Sadiq Khan, BBC journalist and broadcaster Mishal Husain and Sheikha Alanoud Al-Thani. We were incredibly fortunate to have Ru A Kermani as our Master of Ceremonies for the evening. Ru’s support for the evening was marvellous, bringing years of professionalism to an evening that focused on the importance of community, unity and generosity.
