Aside from his work at Sky Sports, David is a freelance host/MC/moderator for a number of different clients, be it for live arena hosting, awards ceremonies, Q&As, dinners, conferences, seminars, corporate hospitality, media launches, etc.

He is extremely versatile in this regard, and his client list includes Shell, Google, UEFA, Tag Heuer and the International Cricket Council amongst others. David enjoys engaging with clients early and offering his skills in the production and creative processes if the client requires, and is very collaborative.

His first “break” was winning the BBC Talent campaign, earning him a contract with BBC Sport. After completing his finals, David kicked off his career with the BBC in London broadcasting across a number of the national radio networks, before moving permanently to Radio 1 – he was Newsbeat’s sports reporter for almost eight years.

As well as presenting sports bulletins, David reported from events across the globe, such as a European Championship, two World Cups, two Champions League finals, three Ashes series, many Wimbledon Championships and Formula 1 Grand Prix.

David also interviewed some of the biggest names in sport, such as David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Andy Murray and Serena Williams.

Alongside Radio 1, David presented and reported on some of the BBC’s flagship football programmes, such as Match of the Day, Football Focus and Final Score, as well as presenting sports bulletins on the BBC News Channel and BBC World News.

He also did tennis commentary for both radio and TV at Wimbledon, the 2006 Australian Open and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. David made the move to Sky in February 2011, and quickly established himself amongst the presenting team at Sky Sports News.

He was then involved in the channel’s Formula 1 output after they secured rights for the 2012 season onwards, anchoring outside broadcasts in Melbourne, Monaco and at Silverstone and presenting shows for the F1 channel.

Since 2012, he has also been involved presenting on “Deadline Day”, when Sky Sports News is the go-to option for many football fans to find out which players their club will sign or sell before the transfer window closes.

David Garrido is frequently in a presenting partnership with our other SKY Sports Great British Speakers presenter Laura Woods.

David made his first documentary in 2014, charting the fortunes of the Gibraltar national football team as they were admitted into UEFA and embarked upon their first qualification campaign for Euro 2016.

He then turned his attention to Spanish football (one of his main passions), presenting Sky’s live LaLiga coverage from 2016 to 2018.
