The UK’s Best Awareness Days Inspirational Speakers

At Great British Speakers, we’re here to help make your event successful. Using our awareness days calendar, you can easily plan ahead to ensure you secure the best speaker for your day.  Our corporate events calendar is also here to inspire you on ways to help motivate your audience and/or employees this year.

Some of the biggest events on the Awareness Days calendar include International Women’s Day (March 8th) and Black History Month (October). Both have become pivotal for raising awareness of EDI concerns within society and the workplace.

We also focus on the importance of Mental Health, with World Mental Health Day (10th October) and Mental Health Awareness Week (12th – 18th May 2025), as well as International Men’s Day (November 19th), which is a powerful reminder for men to take care of their own health and mental well-being.

The calendar below includes all these and many more occasions. However, we know there are many more important awareness days than those we’ve listed, so we will continue to update our events calendar as often as possible to provide you with the latest event news and the best topical speakers on the circuit.

What is Mental Health Awareness Week?
Hosted by The Mental Health Foundation, this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week will occur from 12 to 18 May 2025. The theme for 2025 is ‘Community’.

The awareness day provides a fantastic opportunity for UK businesses and event organisers to raise awareness and focus on helping their employees and audience adopt good mental well-being and provide them with a safe space to discuss mental health challenges.

Over the two decades it has been running, themes have included the connections between mental health and nature, kindness, loneliness, sleep and body image.

To really understand why good mental health in the workplace is essential, we can take a look at some key stats:

  • Almost 15% of people will experience a mental health problem in the workplace
  • Over 12% of all sickness days in the UK are attributed to a mental health problem
  • By promoting better mental health support in the workplace, UK businesses can save up to £8 billion a year

Find an Inspirational Mental Health Awareness Week Speaker

At Great British Speakers, we take pride in collaborating with a team of expert mental health and wellbeing speakers, ideal for your next event. Each speaker brings personal and/or professional insights into why mental health and well-being are crucial topics of discussion.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, it was estimated that one in eight people experienced a mental health issue. Since then, that number has increased by a quarter and remains high due to ongoing challenges such as the cost-of-living crisis, limited NHS resources, global conflicts, and social inequalities.

Whether you’re planning an event for Mental Health Awareness Week or looking to enhance employee well-being, the Great British Speakers team is here to support you.

Featured Speaker – Anna Williamson

Anna Williamson is an experienced TV presenter, radio broadcaster, and Mental Health Awareness Week Speaker, but behind closed doors, she suffered from an almost crippling battle with her mental health. Her experience with Generalised Anxiety Disorder and post-natal depression and her recovery, she realised that there is still a massive stigma around poor mental health and well-being.

As a result, she was determined to use her own experiences to help others. She became an official ambassador for MIND, a counsellor and life coach, and achieved Master NLP Practitioner status.

Hire a Mental Health Awareness Week Speaker

As reported by MIND, approximately one in every four people will experience a mental health problem in a year, with one in six reporting one every single week. Due to worries about employment, money and global inequalities, this figure is set to rise, and it won’t be long before we can all say we know someone suffering.

This is why it is vital to educate everyone and encourage them to talk about their mental health. By hiring a professional and dedicated Mental Health Awareness Week speaker, you can rest assured that your employees will be left with the tools of the trade to support their own and their colleagues’ mental health.
