Will Moxham and Planthood co-founder Hil fell in love with plant-based food in 2018 while living in Canada. Whilst the vegan movement of the time was increasing on the West Coast, when they returned to the UK, they realised the vegan options just didn’t compete.
Keen to offer healthy, sustainable, and easy-to-cook vegan options, Will and Hil set up Planthood to create fast and restaurant-worthy dishes.

Will believes the COVID-19 lockdown impacted people’s behaviour and eating styles, which led to an increase in vegetarian or vegan diets. He wanted his business to appeal to everyone, and not just those already on a vegan diet:
“When you’re starting a business, think as broadly as possible about what you offer. By appealing to those who want to reduce their meat consumption as well as being vegetarian, we have grown exponentially.”
Since Planthood took off in 2020, Will Moxham and the company have been featured in popular publications, including Cosmopolitan, Forbes, Grazia and Stylist magazines.
Will was keen to make Planthood stand out, and not become lost among the other popular recipe box companies. Their USP is that all items are already cooked, and all the customer needs to do is reheat, prep the fresh items and eat, all in about 15 minutes. Everything in their boxes is plant-based, and whilst there’s often been concern that vegan diets do not offer appropriate nutrients, Planthood’s boxes contain high-quality and nutritious ingredients.
Will is also very passionate about the environment and ensuring his business is as sustainable as possible. With ingredients seemingly being available all year round, Will believes this is harming the environment, and so only sources fresh fruit and vegetables during their seasonal window. They also prioritise small farmers and growers who can show they use sustainable techniques to protect their land. In doing so, they aim only to use the number of ingredients needed for the recipe, reducing the amount of food that goes to waste. If this wasn’t enough, Will is keen to give back and donates 1% of all the sales back to the planet, helping environmental charities to boost nature and biodiversity.
