Dame Katherine Grainger is one of Team GB’s most decorated female Olympians. Appearing in five consecutive Olympic Games, Katherine has won one gold and four silver medals.
She was once GB’s most decorated female Olympian, but has since been overtaken by dressage rider and eventer Charlotte Dujardin, and cyclist Dame Laura Kenny.
With five Olympic medals made up of one gold and four silver, Katherine is the only female athlete to ever gain medals in five consecutive Olympic Games. This honour saw her be announced in the 2013 New Year’s Honours as having been granted a CBE, which was upgraded to a damehood in 2017 for services to sport and charity.
