SUMMARY:Black History Month
DESCRIPTION:Find a Black History Month Inspirational Speaker\n\n \n  \nBlack History Month (BHM) first became prominent in the UK in the 1980s\, with the first organised events taking place in London in 1987. \nThe movement was first proposed by Black scholars in the US\, who sought ways to challenge racism and celebrate black culture and the lives of black people who have done remarkable things worldwide. While the US celebrates Black History Month in February\, Black History Month is celebrated in October in the UK. \nWhy Celebrate Black History Month?\nDespite this revolutionary movement and the rise of equality and diversity awareness\, racism is still present in our everyday lives. This was no more evident than in 2020 when we witnessed the world come together in response to the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor in the United States.  The following solidarity demonstrations sparked a resurgence of the #BlackLivesMatter movement – a worldwide movement for equality and justice against racial discrimination first launched in 2013. (see source) \nAs a result of Floyd and Taylor’s deaths\, Black History Month (BHM) 2021 was possibly one of the most significant since the event began and demonstrated the solidarity and support for BAME communities\, and yet in the months that followed\, England’s players at Euro 2020 also became victims of racial abuse online\, demonstrating that there is still a long way to go for racial equality. \nOur inspirational Black History Month Speakers are experts in their field.  From medical physicians and psychologists to speakers on wellness and diversity in the workplace\, career goals and equality\, financial health\, cultural influences\, fashion and inclusion – but one thing is for sure\, they’re all passionate speakers on Diversity\, Equality & Inclusion for Black and Ethnic Minorities within everyday society… \n  \nSearch all of our Black History Month Speakers\n\n\nFeatured Speaker – June Sarpong\n \n  \nJune Sarpong OBE is an award-winning author\, TV Presenter\, and BBC director of Creative Diversity. From human rights to feminism to workplace discrimination\, June’s pioneering influence has sent positive ripples throughout British business\, politics\, and society. She has spoken at several high-profile events—including the DNA Summit—to share her unique understanding of inclusion and diversity. \nJune is also the author of several award-winning books. In 2017\, she released Diversify: Six Degrees of Integration\, which spotlights groups often marginalised in society\, including women\, those living with disabilities\, and the LGBTQ+ community. \nThis was followed by The Power of Women (2018) and The Power of Privilege: How White People can Challenge Racism (2020)\, and her memoir The Only One in the Room is due out in 2025. \n  \nRelated Articles\nRead our past articles on our popular speakers. \nDiscover The Best Inspirational Speakers for Black History Month | 2025 \n \nThe Power of a Black History Month Speaker in Promoting Diversity and Inclusion \n \nhttps://greatbritishpresenters.co.uk/news/black-history-month-speakers-2023/ \n  \nListen to the Podcast!\n \nChats with some of the UK’s leading Black History Month Diversity Speakers \nWelcome to the Great British Speakers Podcast Series\, where we connect you with the UK’s top keynote speakers\, business leaders\, athletes\, mental health advocates\, and more. SUMMARY:World Mental Health Day
DESCRIPTION:World Mental Health Day takes place on October 10.\nWorld Mental Health Day was designed to increase awareness of global mental health concerns\, inspire communication\, and enhance education on topics people often feel too taboo or vulnerable to discuss. \nPre-pandemic\, it was reported that one in eight people suffered from mental health issues.  However\, cases of anxiety and depression rose more than a quarter during the first Covid-lockdown. While we’re all now getting back to a ‘new normal’\, many of us are still living with symptoms of anxiety and depression as a symptom of the pandemic.  (Stats: World Mental Health Day 2022). Plus\, we are seeing a massive increase in awareness around suicide prevention and men’s mental health at the moment\, with many organisations putting in place structures and activities specially designed to help men tackle poor mental health as it’s been statistically proven that men are less likely to ask for help when it comes to dealing with mental health issues. \nIn addition to this\, new global concerns have risen\, such as social and economic inequality\, cost-of-living\,  equality and discrimination\, limited NHS public health care and the effect of the war in Ukraine\, which have all played a role in deepening people’s insecurities about the future. \nFortunately\, it offers the opportunity for open communication\, where people’s mental health is valued and protected in a safe space\, and where everyone has an equal opportunity to source mental healthcare\, regardless of who and where they are. \n  \nWhat Defines a Mentally Healthy Workplace?\n \nAccording to The Mental Health Foundation\, a mentally healthy workplace fosters a supportive environment where employees feel valued\, respected\, and able to discuss mental health without fear of judgment. This includes staff training on mental health\, addressing issues like discrimination and bullying\, and encouraging open conversations about well-being. \nAlthough discussions around mental health in the workplace have become more common\, stigma still exists\, particularly regarding severe mental health conditions. This highlights the need for ongoing efforts to break down barriers and create a truly inclusive and supportive work environment. \nFind an Inspirational World Mental Health Day Speaker\nAt Great British Speakers\, we’ve worked hard to secure a team of professional mental health speakers. They all have personal\, heartfelt reasons why mental health is such a vital topic of conversation for them. \nUltimately\, our mental health and wellness speakers share the same goal and\, through their personal experiences\, advocate for global mental health care for all. \nSo\, if you’re running an event for World Mental Health Day or want to boost your team’s mental well-being at your next team-building day\, the team at Great British Speakers is here to help. \n  \nSearch all of our Mental Health and Wellness Awareness Speakers\n\nFeatured Speaker – Owen O’Kane\nPsychotherapist and author of the globally acclaimed book Ten to Zen\, Owen O’Kane\, is a self-described “Irish\, Catholic and Gay young man”\, the perfect combination for anxiety during The Troubles. After a spell working in palliative care\, Owen spoke to many people at the end of their lives and realised many were expressing their biggest regrets. He captures everyone’s attention with his anecdotes on grief and bereavement\, his childhood\, his sexuality and his mental health. SUMMARY:Blue Monday Speakers at GREAT BRITISH SPEAKERS
DESCRIPTION:Blue Monday Mental Health Speakers\n  \nWhat is Blue Monday?\nThe term Blue Monday is a compilation term for what we’ve come to know as those post-Christmas blues… back to a normal work routine\,  cold\, dark days and the costs of unpaid Christmas debts and winter credit card bills\,  all which make this time of year feel a tad more gloomy. \nThe term was coined by a psychologist\, Cliff Arnall\, back in 2004\, when  Sky Travel\, asked him for a “scientific formula” for the January blues. From his research\, Arnell calculated that the most depressing day of the year could be discovered using the following formula; \nWhere weather=W\, debt=d\, time since Christmas=T\, time since failing our new year’s resolutions=Q\, low motivational levels=M and the feeling of a need to take action=Na. ‘D’ is not defined in the release\, nor are units. \nUsing his calculation\, he determined that the most depressing day of the year was\, in fact\, the 3rd Monday of January. \n – so next year\, it will fall on the 20th of January 2025. \nDespite the term initially being coined to encourage people to book holidays – the term seems to have stuck\, as is now widely used in to describe those seasonal blues and even more severe mental health and mood disorders\, such as SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). \nHowever\, in some circumstances\, when these moods don’t lift\, they can spiral into more long-term mental health conditions. \nSo while the date may have been coined for a quick holiday PR stunt\, the awareness it’s raised over the years has been fundamental in raising the wider concerns of mental health issues globally. \n  \nFind Inspirational Blue Monday Mental Health Speakers\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAt Great British Speakers\, you can hire Blue Monday mental health speakers who specifically focus on health and fitness\, from mental wellness professionals to some of the country’s leading Sports stars who will bring a whole different level to your team-building event through their motivational talks to really heighten your team’s morale through these difficult months. \nSo\, if you would be interested in finding out more about our Blue Monday speakers\, we are only an email or a phone call away – the team at Great British Speakers is here to help you find the best mental health speakers. \nFeatured Speaker:  Rob Hosking\n \n \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nContact us Great British Speakers for a personalised shortlist of Blue Monday mental health speakers.\nLEARN MORE\nMental Health Speakers | Similar Speakers & Blogs \n\nSuicide Prevention Speaker Steve Carr\nSupporting Women’s Health in the Workplace\nHow to Prevent Work/Life Burnout with Andrew Pain\nNew Ways to Cope with Mental Health in the Workplace\nSpeaking Up on Men’s Mental Health with Roman Kemp\n\nhttps://greatbritishspeakers.co.uk/news/health-motivational-speaker-2024/ \n  \n“A Chat With…”  Episodes with our Mental Health Speakers | Podcast. \n \n\nClive Branson | Overcoming Adversity\, Disability \nBen Smith | LGBTQ+ Anti-Bullying & Endurance\nAndrew Pain | Domestic Violence Isn’t Gendered\nAlex Staniforth | Mind Over Mountains Men’s Mental Health\nDave Walsh | World’s Strongest Disabled Man\nSteve Carr | ‘Losing Myself to Find Everything’ – Suicide Awareness\n\n\nLinks to Resources | Mental Health Support \n\nContact ‘Mind’ – Mental Health Charity\nContact Samaritans – Mental Health Charity\nWorld Health Organization \nWorld Mental Health Day\n\n  \nHire Blue Monday Mental Health Speakers\nIf you’d like to book any motivational Blue Monday Mental Health speakers to add some optimism and inspiration this Blue Monday\, then do get in touch with directors Jane Farnham and Steve Denison here at Great British Speakers. \nCall +44 1753 439289 or email bookings@greatbritishtalent.com \n

Shortly after leaving school\, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and went through gruelling radiotherapy before being given a clean bill of health. Then in 2012 she was told that a benign lump in her left breast had developed into a malignant tumour. Poignantly\, it seems the cause of the cancer was the high dose of radiation she had when she was younger\, and because of his high does\, it meant she was unable to have anymore and so opted to have her breast removed. But once the doctors told her she had a 25% chance of the cancer returning in the other breast\, she opted for a double mastectomy. Through her own experience\, Bridgit is a speaker who can impart wisdom and truly sympathise with any audience. \n \nWorld Cancer Day Speakers | Similar Speakers and Blogs\n\nClive Branson\nDr Brooke Vandermolen\nSimon Thomas\nHealth and Wellness Speakers\nOvercoming Adversity – A Chat With Clive Branson\nCancer Awareness Speakers: Health Experts & Survivors \n\nLinks to Resources for Cancer Support\n\nWorld Cancer Day\nCancer Research – Coping with Cancer\nMacmillan – Cancer Information and Support\nWork and Cancer\nMacmillan at Work – Employers \nCancer Research – Cancer Awareness in the Workplace\nCancer in the Workplace\nWorking with Cancer\n\nHire inspirational World Cancer Day Speakers\nIf you’re holding an event and want to find the best World Cancer Day speakers\, or simply want to educate your staff on the symptoms\, treatment and effects of cancer within the workplace\, then get in touch with us\, as we have an array of experts just waiting to share their story. SUMMARY:International Women in Engineering Day
DESCRIPTION:Why Celebrate International Women in Engineering Day?\nAs of 2024\, women make up approximately 15.7% of the engineering workforce in the UK\, a slight decline from 16.5% in 2022. This represents a setback in efforts to increase gender diversity in the field. The drop is particularly concerning given that many women\, especially those aged 35 to 44\, are leaving the profession\, often due to work-life balance challenges\, lack of career progression\, and an unsupportive work environment. (stats: wes.org.uk/ engineers.scot) \nInternational Women in Engineering Day began in the UK in 2014 and is celebrated on June 23rd every year.  The occasion aims to promote their achievements\, highlight the importance of a diverse workforce\, and encourage the next generation of women into STEM careers. In combination with the Women’s Engineering Society\, International Women in Engineering Day seeks to unite government\, education\, and corporate engineering institutions to raise the profile of engineering as an exciting career choice for women. \n#INWED25\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nFind an Inspirational Female Speaker for Women in Engineering Day\nAt Great British Speakers\, we are proud to work alongside a team of professional female STEM speakers.
