The UK’s Best Awareness Days Inspirational Speakers

At Great British Speakers, we’re here to help make your event successful. Using our awareness days calendar, you can easily plan ahead to ensure you secure the best speaker for your day.  Our corporate events calendar is also here to inspire you on ways to help motivate your audience and/or employees this year.

Some of the biggest events on the Awareness Days calendar include International Women’s Day (March 8th) and Black History Month (October). Both have become pivotal for raising awareness of EDI concerns within society and the workplace.

We also focus on the importance of Mental Health, with World Mental Health Day (10th October) and Mental Health Awareness Week (12th – 18th May 2025), as well as International Men’s Day (November 19th), which is a powerful reminder for men to take care of their own health and mental well-being.

The calendar below includes all these and many more occasions. However, we know there are many more important awareness days than those we’ve listed, so we will continue to update our events calendar as often as possible to provide you with the latest event news and the best topical speakers on the circuit.

What is ‘Movember?’
  • Movember is an annual event that occurs every November. During this time, men grow moustaches to raise awareness of men’s health issues.
  • By encouraging men to grow moustaches, Movember aims to increase early detection, better knowledge and improved treatment of things such as prostate and testicular cancer, mental health issues and men’s suicide.
  • Since its inception, Movember has raised over £400 million thanks to almost 7 million “Mo Bros” participating—not bad considering there were only 30 participants the first year.

Facts!

  • 1 in 4 men admit to never having checked themselves for testicular cancer
  • Almost half of all men regularly forget to check themselves for testicular cancer
  • 47% of men with a mental health problem have never raised it in the workplace
  • Men account for ¾ of UK deaths by suicide
  • Globally, on average 1 man dies of suicide every minute of every day
  • Men are dying on average 4.5 years earlier than women thanks to largely preventable/treatable reasons such as prostate or testicular cancer, and mental health difficulties

Over the past decade, the highest suicide rates each year have been in working-age males. Employers must create a safe workplace to provide their staff with the best mental and physical health support possible. We have a large team of male mental health speakers who are willing to share their stories about mental health, suicidal thoughts, and physical illnesses such as cancer.

Featured Speaker – Clive Branson

The last few years have been an astonishing period for Clive Branson, who’s no stranger to the isolation mental and physical health can bring. Having been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2017 and Prostate Cancer a year later, Clive has battled more than most. And although the last five years have been rather eventful for Clive and his family, his philosophy now is simple – not to allow daily challenges to define him.  Today, Clive’s mission is to actively demonstrate that we do have the ability to overcome adversity. Resilience, Hope and Positivity are crucial words in his vocabulary, and the next chapter of his life will be met with stoicism and a smile.  Clive is the epitome of an ‘inspirational speaker.’
